Crypto Leverage Calculator. Know the numbers before the trade.

Solve for the leverage that keeps your estimated liquidation safely beyond your stop loss — so the stop closes losers, not the exchange.

Direction

1–2% is the common guideline.

Advanced: maintenance margin, buffer, margin mode

Extra distance demanded between stop and liquidation.

Margin mode

Estimates assume isolated margin. Cross margin liquidates later but risks the whole balance.

Buffer beyond stop0.50%

Keeps the estimated liquidation beyond your stop loss with the buffer above. Estimate only — exchange settings vary.

Formulas used
  • Risk amount = balance × risk%
  • Quantity = risk amount ÷ |entry − stop|
  • Notional = quantity × entry · Margin = notional ÷ leverage
  • Net PnL = direction × (exit − entry) × qty − fees(in + out)
  • Liq (long) ≈ entry × (1 − 1/lev + maint% + fee%)
  • Safe lev = 1 ÷ (stop% + buffer% + maint% + fee%)
  • Breakeven win rate = 1 ÷ (1 + R:R)
FAQ

Straight answers, no hedging.

What is a safe leverage level?

One where your estimated liquidation price sits beyond your stop loss with a buffer — so the stop, not the exchange, closes your losers. This calculator solves for that level from your stop distance, maintenance margin, fees, and a configurable buffer.

Why does a tighter stop allow higher leverage?

Liquidation distance scales with 1/leverage. If your stop is very close to entry, liquidation can sit beyond it even at high leverage — but slippage and wicks make small buffers dangerous, which is why a configurable buffer is built in.

Is this exact for Binance, Bybit, OKX, or Bitget?

No calculator outside the exchange can be exact. Liquidation and margin depend on the venue's maintenance-margin tiers, margin mode, funding, fees, and any position changes. These figures are close estimates for isolated USDT linear perpetuals — always confirm on your exchange before trading.

Does this calculator give trading advice?

No. Every output is general market and risk education — not financial advice, investment advice, or a recommendation to trade. What you do with the numbers is your decision and your responsibility.
